Back to life, back to reality. Back from San Diego :) It was really nice to get away one more time while we have the luxury of planning life only around ourselves. Hubbs had never been to San Diego (or west of Santa Fe for that matter) and it has been 20 years since I have been there. But, as I remember, it is a beautiful place with pretty perfect weather (except for our last full day when it was rainy/misty as the "storms" began to come through). Weather is pretty funny in a place that sees pretty ideal temperatures year round. In Iowa, we see it all. Rain? Hey, we welcome it...better than the bitter temps we left behind.

We stayed at a nice resort on Mission Bay called Paradise Point Resort and Spa. I would totally recommend it. As you can see here, they have beautiful lagoons as well as multiple swimming pools and activities. However, nothing is free (for example, use of their fitness facility runs $15/day). We enjoyed our stay here, and my personal favorite component was having a bonfire on the beach and roasting marshmallows. YUM!

Of course we couldn't resist greeting Shamu. We also did the behind the scenes tour at Sea World where we got to touch a little shark. Pretty cool. One day we did a hop-on, hop-off trolley around the city where we went to Coronado as well as the zoo. We are suckers for cute animals. Coronado is where we got Hubb's first "ankle dip" in the Pacific. As you can see from the pic below, we picked up a couple of shells and sand dollars.

The day that we did get some rain (not much), but it did stay foggy/misty, we drove to Torrey Pines as well as down the coast to La Jolla where we spent some time admiring these lovely sea lions. There were at least 100 of them laying at one of the coves in La Jolla. It was really wonderful. I could walk down and look at them every day I think.

Another nice trip for us. Oh how I love to travel and take vacations. Wonder where will be our first adventure with the little one? Road trip to CO? Hmmmm.....Hubby is so funny. Every place we go, he compares it to Colorado. West is definitely a good direction!
On the knitting front, my Cable Luxe capelet is complete and blocking right now. Pics to come!
