Spin 'er

Don't you just love the world of the internet? I tell you, it is the best. Julia of Mind of Winter gave me a few tips on using my Majacraft Rose and I got some feedback and tips from Glynis at Majacraft. Communications sent out this morning, looking for help....replies and spinning by evening...woot woot!
Here was some of the feedback that I received (hope that you don't mind me passing along the good word ladies):
From Julia:
...when the wheel is brand new, the bobbins haven't been properly broken in and don't always revolve independently of the flyer. Screw them in and out a few times and you will notice that small bits of plastic come off and the bobbin rotates independently, as it should. If this isn't the problem (though I'm guessing it is), you may just need to adjust the tension a bit. The Rose is very sensitive to small adjustments.
The threading is fairly straightforward - just take it from the bobbin, lay it between the two arms of the sliding hook (it will then go into the circle on the side nearest to the bobbin). Then it goes past the cup hook on the out side and through the orifice. The delta orifice you put the yarn down through and for the round orifice I double it over and push it through.
The yarn guides should point away from you and then there is little likelihood of the yarn catching. If you are going backwards quite a bit is common early on you may well be getting in a bit of a knot. This will sort itself out as you improve. There is no reason at all for catching in the orifice, unless you are trying to get very thick yarn through the round orifice. However if you are having trouble getting the fiber onto the bobbin it is more likely to be a tension issue. Try adjusting the brake tension and see whether you can find the spot hat suits you the best.
After using Julia's tip on "warming up the bobbin" and Glynis's tip on the tension, I was off and going! Now, I just need to keep practicing so that I can get a thinner yarn.
And as for my Golding? Yup...getting a little attention too!
