Look, I match my yarn

We had a lovely labor day weekend. Hubbs had a 24-hour mountain bike race that had very good weather for the most part. He was on a team of 4 that decided in the evening to kick back and have a few drinks and enjoy the fire instead of ride all the way through the night. They were in 2nd leading up to the break, but decided to relax and pick things back up in the morning. It was a nice race, this event is always put on well and it is fun to camp out and kick back with everyone.

On Monday, hubbs and I went out on a ride to clock the first miles on my new bike. I shared with you my hesitation with the clipless pedals and sure enough, they got the best of me. I was doing so well, and after about 11 miles we returned home and I crashed unclipping my pedals. Well, crash isn't exactly correct. I fell over after I unclipped my right pedal. Instead of stabilizing myself with my right foot on the ground, I tried to unclip my left pedal at the same time, and gravity got the best of me. Ouch, pavement hurts. I smacked myself pretty good with the bike and tore myself up with what looks like the chain (it looks like Freddy Krueger took a big swipe on my calf). The worst part is how I guess I landed on my right hand. My thumb was killing me and after a couple of hours, I started to resemble Shreck (approx. 2X the size of my other thumb). My knuckle swelled up and I started bruising. I received my new yarn today and have decided that purple is my color of the week :)
I did go to the Dr. on Tuesday just to make sure it wasn't broken. X-rays showed that I didn't break it, but basically jammed it pretty hard. So, no knitting/crochet for a little while and I just got my yarn for Nouveau....agh! Well, only down for a couple of days anyways. Then it will be back to the routine and back on the bike to conquer those damn pedals.

Ouch girl- take it easy!
I am absolutely terrified by the idea of being clipped into pedals- I took a nasty spill on a bike that was too big for me to ride comfortably and have been pretty scared of getting on a bike since then.
here's sending speedy recovery thoughts your way~

Oh no! New yarn and you can't play with it! Hope you are feeling better soon. The yarn is a lovely color by the way.

I hope you have a quick recovery. There's nothing like not being able to knit! It's such a bummer!
