Progress?

Week 34 (and definitely counting).....
Baby Surprise has been officially ripped (yes, again) and I think is now on track.

What is sort of amusing about this is that on Ravelry, there are a couple thousand of happy knitters who have tackled this project...most in just a couple of days. And here I am, a pretty advanced knitter most of the time, ripping and ripping. I think it is seriously baby brain and that this pattern wants you to keep track of stitches for each row. Counting and pregnancy? Hmmmmm.

I am enjoying the yarn. Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Sock Candy is very vibrant in their colorways. I think that it will wash up really nicely as well for a baby knit and be pretty durable.

To keep myself sane and feel as though I am making some progress on baby knits, I have cast on for Otto the Owl. I loooooove stuffed owls. Ravelry has a bunch of cute ones that people have finished, but if you are not up to speed on Ravelry, you can check out Flickr to see a few FOs. Elann.com has Pakucho Organic Cotton again and so my Otto is being worked on with that. Not so many interesting pics of that yet, but Otto will be appearing at a blog near you hopefully in the near future!

Getting Ready for Baby

Yesterday Hubbs and I did the Express Child Prep class at our hospital (no 5 week lamaze program for us). Unfortunately, I have been suffering from the worst cold the last few days...worse than any cold I can remember other than back when I used to get bronchitus. I think what makes the cold so tough is the lack of meds I can take. I called my Dr.'s office on Friday to see if I needed to come in (being now in week 32 of pregnancy) and they said to come in if my temp was above 100. It was at 99.7, so I decided to persevere and mope about at home. Hubbs has been helping to keep me alive by brining me soup and the appropriate pregnancy-friendly meds. I think I am finally pulling through 3 days later. So, back to Child Prep....

Class started with some lovely lullaby music which Hubbs immediately recognized as the Beatles. Wow, has everyone seen all of the cool baby music the Rockababy people are putting out? We quickly ordered the Beatles and Led Zepplin, music that is definitely more Hubbs style, but I can tolerate the Beatles in lullabye form. I must be one of the few people out there with a distaste for the Beatles...or maybe just a distaste for Beatles fanatics....don't hold it against me :) Check out the music samples on Amazon....pretty cool, huh?

Child Prep was pretty eye-opening. Lots of information and I don't know if it is any more comforting to know EXACTLY what to expect (from a medical procedural standpoint), but still good information to know to cut down stress and be more prepared for the big event. I do think the best part was learning some relaxation techniques and of course Hubbs getting to practice different massage techniques to keep me comforted :)

There is really quite a bit more to the class than all of that, but being a sicky for the duration of the full-day ordeal I was only partially there in mind. Hopefully everyone is enjoying their winter weather....we just got another cold blast here in the Midwest....silly groundhog.

Awwww....Freak Out!

Well, Knit out anyways :) Remember this from last year? We made an appearance and checked it out. We will be up in the cities again....maybe end up being repeat offenders....hehehe. Anyone else going?

A nice start to the weekend

Friday after work, Hubbs came home with a little surprise for me:
I am not a big one for flowers on holidays and such. I think that they are best when they are for "just because"...and these were. I love the smell of fresh flowers, especially roses. Maybe I won't be demoted from my princess status when our little girl arrives....haha :)

What a wonderful guy I have. This weekend was pretty busy with MBA work. I have one team member who is seriously dragging our group down (think "I don't like teamwork" coming from someone who is in a program that is designed around teams). Eh. At any rate, our group is pleased with our work, despite having one member that is constantly causing issues.

I haven't talked about Hubbs and the bikes recently. Yup, they are still there and he is training away for another season. He just had another power test and results were very encouraging giving that we are still in pre-season mode. He has added a few more bikes to the fleet as well....I think that he is up to 12. Se la vi....we all have our passions, right? I am very proud of his dedication and focus.

Baby Surprise Jacket is plugging along slowly. I thought I was on the right track, but I think I may have to rip back again to move forward. No time this weekend for knitting however. Good thing I have a few more weeks before she arrives!
